Our second day started out with a sumptuous breakfast at the Super 8. They have really nice little kitchens in their lobby's and we had a waffle and juice and took an apple for the road.
We had no trouble getting a credit from Bell's Motel and they apologized for the mix up.
We hit the road a little after eight and arrived in Des Moines at almost 7:26 PM. With the time change and stops, we drove for about 9 1/2 hours. We decided to trade off driving every two hours and that seemed to work pretty well. Most importantly, we finally finished "Shantaram", the book we have been listening to since we went to California in May. It's like 49 hours long.
It was nice to arrive while the sun was still up and the humidity was still strong. It appears that an outbreak of Cicada's is happening in Iowa. They make quite a chirping racket and I hope it doesn't disturb my sleep.
Speaking of sleep, I had better get some rest. We are fair bound in the morning and staying the whole day.
